We have been involved with Bullmastiffs for eleven years, first in Western Australia and now in Victoria.
Previously involved in breeding and training Kelpies for sheep work, and breeding Jack Russells for pets and as ratters, we eventually found ourselves in the position where we were unable to give these dogs the work they needed and decided to look around for another breed on which to focus.
We decided that we wanted a large breed and after much research we settled on the Bullmastiff and started looking for the right dog for us. After searching unsuccessfully in WA for several years,we found a suitable puppy for sale in NSW in 1999.
Our first boy Harley was sold to us as a pet and though not a great physical example of the breed, he stole our hearts with his giant personality and started our addiction to the Bullmastiff breed.
Sadly our beautiful Harley is no longer with us, but we now live with four Bullmastiffs (Lulu, Polly, Harriet and Ellimae) who are all very important in our lives.
The eldest, Lulu, is nine years old and getting a bit doddery although she is still on time for breakfast and dinner! Lulu has always been the "Nanny" to any puppies in the family and is still adored by her grown up charges.
Polly (Ch Bulavista Penny Arcade) is our foundation bitch for Banobrae Bullmastiffs, being the dam of our first Banobrae litter bred in mid 2006. You can read about our dogs on the Meet Our Dogs page.
Harriet and Ellimae are litter sisters and grand daughters of Polly. Although still young, both are growing into lovely bitches and we are very pleased to have these high quality girls to breed from in the future.
Our other dog passion is raw feeding or BARF (Biologically Appropriate Raw Food or Bones and Raw Food) as it is commonly known. We began learning about a raw diet when treating Harley for renal failure and, although it was too late to save Harley, we were well and truly converted by the positive changes we noticed in our other dogs. More details on raw feeding can be found on our Raw Diet page
