General Cometition Rules
1.   All events are Rock and Roll events unless specifically identified as another style.

2.   All Competitors must be financial members of either the VRRDA (Victorian Rock’n’Roll
      Dance Association Inc) or must be financial members of, students of or sponsored by
      a Club or Association which is a member of the VRRDA.

3.  Some categories have now been designated as open to ‘amateur’ dancers only.
     Dancers are considered to be ‘professionals’ if they receive any payments for
     dance instruction. ‘Professionals’ may only dance in Advanced, Lifts, Triples, Teams
     and the State Title events.
     Please direct any queries regarding this change to the Committee.

4.   All Competitors must enter the Competition using the Official Entry Form of the
      VRRDA.  This form must be signed, acknowledging that the Competition Rules have
      been read, understood or explained and accepted.

5.  Competition Entry fees

     a. Individual financial members of the VRRDA;
         $5 per competitor for each event and free entry to the venue.

     b. Each competitor who is not a financial member of the VRRDA;
         $10 per competitor for each event plus $10 entry to the venue per competitor.

     c.  All Youth Section competitors will be $5 per competitor per event.
         Venue entry for non-members will be $5 per competitor.

     d. Entry fee for the State Title Event will be $10 for each competitor.

     e. Entry fee for the Teams event is $30 per team.

     f.  Competition Fees are NOT refundable unless an event is cancelled or for
         extenuating circumstances.

     g.  Entries are to be pre-paid by 30 April 2008.

6.   Music
     
Music will be prerecorded.  All songs played will be in the spirit of Rock’n’Roll music of
      the 50's & 60's.
      For the 2008 Championships the Adult and Youth State Titles Events finals may be danced to live music.


     
7.  Order of Events
     
The Order of Events for State Championships shall be entirely at the discretion of  
      the Committee.


8.  Dance Styles
     
For all events, any Rock ’n’ Roll style is permitted (other dance styles, eg Latin
      American, Lindy and Ballroom Jive are not accepted)
and styling should not appear to
      be predominantly Lindy Hop.


9.  Qualifying Heats
    
Where events require qualifying heats on the day of the Championships (eg. More than
     6 entries) these will be danced in the afternoon. All competitors involved will be
     notified in advance of the date of the finals.

10. Number of Songs
     
At the Finals, any events requiring heats will have one song only used in those heats.
      For finals, two songs will be used except for Lifts, Triples and the Teams Events, where one song only
      will be used.
      Where one song only is used it will be of at least ‘medium’ pace.  Where two songs are used they will
      be one ‘slow’ song and one ‘fast’ song.

11.  Objections
      
Any objections or complaints must be lodged within 30 minutes after completion of the   
        event.
        The objection must be in writing with contact details of the objector.
        Lodgement Fee for an objection is $20.  If the objection is upheld the fee will be 
        refunded.


12.   Prizes
       
The Committee reserves the right to restrict the trophies and/or prizes to be awarded
         for any event dependent on entries received for that event.

13.   Scores
       
Competitors are able to request their score in the State Finals by a written request to
        the Secretary of the VRRDA accompanied by a fee of $10.00 per event.

14.   Change of Grading
        
The Committee reserves the right to assist or change any entry to other grading or
         category to ensure the evenness and fairness of competition.
