Most of my photos were shot using 35mm Pentax Spotmatics (SPII and SP1000),
cameras that are over 30 years old. Rather than using zooms, I preferred fixed
focal length lenses, of which I have a selection ranging from 17mm to 500mm.
Film used was mostly Kodachrome 64, with Kodachrome 200 for low light or
long lens shots, but various E6 type slide films have also been used.
In recent times much of my work is shot with Pentax digital cameras.
HTML was hardcoded, no tools being used. I have tried to keep the code
and page layout simple, to display on a wide variety of browsers.
Pages are best viewed with display settings of True Color (24 bit),
and 800 by 600 pixels or larger.
Most of the photographs were scanned from slides using a Polaroid SprintScan 35 Plus,
then adjusted and converted to JPEG format using Aldus PhotoStyler.
This is a free format page which might include anything from a recent newsworthy event, to a guest photographer appearance. It was intended to update the Feature page regularly, but I haven't managed this as often as I had hoped!
As I improve my scanning techniques, I am replacing some of the photos with improved versions, and paying more attention to JPEG compression to reduce download times. I also intend to add more photos to the existing pages, and soon I'll be adding new pages for other photographs, including some more non-railway stuff.
Please use the greyscale provided here to check the adjustment of your monitor. You should be able to see all the shades of grey, and each shade should be distinct from the next.
