The Leven
SCUBA Club (LSC) is the oldest and at the present time, only
SCUBA dive club operating on Tasmania's North West Coast. Formed
in 1978 it's still active and has a small but enthusiastic membership
committed to promoting safe, affordable recreational SCUBA diving.
We are also actively involved in environmental and community
activities which directly or otherwise affect the sport of SCUBA
diving and the marine environment. As well as diving for fun,
LSC members help in harbour cleanups, survey work and many other
underwater activities of a non-commercial nature. We are committed
to the conservation of shipwrecks and other vulnerable dive
sites.

The LSC has an ongoing project
involving the construction and maintenance of artificial reefs
to promote the growth and retention of sea life on the North
West coast of Tasmania.
Several times a year club members travel to other dive locations
around the state, usually on the east coast for some charters
or shore dives. We also try to support other Tasmanian dive
clubs and operators whenever possible and participate in SCUBA
dive community events.

The clubs' name is derived from the Leven river
of Ulverstone, where the LSC was originally formed. Over the
years however the membership has been predominately based in
Devonport and this is where the club is now situated.
Meetings are held at 7:30 PM on the 1st Thursday
of each month (excluding public holidays) at The Mersey Yacht
Club - Anchor Dr - East Devonport
