DIFS was born in 2000 on Dangar Island, on the Hawkesbury
River, New South Wales, Australia. Our first night fundraiser screened Mambo
Kings, with a special video message from the Sydney Morning
Herald's film critic Doug Anderson,
a risqué short and gallons of mango daiquiri.
The DIFS signature
drink (recipe below) has raised funds for over 100 film screenings
and six kids' film-making workshops: Islander's Point of View, Late,
The Mystery of the Hawkesbury River Monster, Gossip Game, Message On The Water, and
Hungry4Adventure.
Membership
As a film society we are not allowed to charge admission to our screenings. Instead our audience must be members of the society.
Memberships are available at any screening, issued on the spot @ $10 Adults and $5 Children. Your membership expires a year
after you buy it, and in that time you can attend any DIFS event for free.
We like all our members to be on our mailing list, and if you're not a member, sign up to our mailing list here
and bring your ten bucks to the next screening.
