About Us

The Thylacine Search Fund (TSF) is a registered charitable institution which performs two main tasks.

We find the animals

We negotiate between competing interests

We organise and fund expeditions into remote areas in search of endangered animals. It is hoped that by identifying the locations of communities of rare and threatened species, society will be able to more intelligently balance the interests competing for the use of our environment.

We also provide a free advocacy and mediation service, negotiating between interested parties on environmental issues.

We are a pragmatic group whose work seeks to gather data which can then be used for environmental management – we are not against forestry, farming or mining etc. We are impartial and independent. Our namesake, the Thylacine, is an example of an animal which might have benefited from detailed population information and better environmental management.
