What We Do

We are a pragmatic group whose work seeks to gather data which can then be used for environmental management – we are not against forestry, farming or mining etc. We are impartial and independent. Our namesake, the Thylacine, is an example of an animal which might have benefited from detailed population information and better environmental management.

Our highly motivated team of volunteers have years of experience in the various disciplines necessary for our tasks, as well as being experts in the fields necessary for our mission, including:

• Cartography;
• Remote Communications;
• Sea Kayaking;
• Hiking and Cross Country Skiing;
• Four Wheel Driving;
• White Water Canoeing and Kayaking;
• Remote Area Medicine
• Mediation and Negotiation;
• Legal knowledge and skills.

We conduct searches in some of the most inhospitable and inaccessible wilderness areas in the country, as well as assisting in jobs closer to home. We also investigate reported sightings of animals that are supposed to be extinct.
