For Tam and I it all began when we met in Sydney. After an eternity of talking and wooing, eventually I got my head sorted out and asked her to move down to Melbourne to live with me. We moved into a little place in Williamstown on Thompson Street. Lovely area, loads of character and beauty spots, and more burglaries than any other place Ive ever lived, including Otara. The parking wardens would even ticket you in your driveway if the exhaust or towbar made it onto the footpath. They even work the restaurant strip at 11pm. Best neighbours were the SAS. You wouldnt even know they were there....We would go for walks in the evening down to the waterfront. Most people would take their dog but my cat Sonic (also from NZ) used to follow us. Pretty brave considering we were in an off-lead area loaded with bull terriers but then ever since she finished off that whippet she had a bit of an attitude I guess. One night during a blackout someone painted pointy ears, horns and a beard on the face of the politician that had stuck his placard on our fence. Next day his whole family came around all angry and took the board down. I reckon they blamed us but Tam and I would never do a thing like that.

Soon after that we moved to the hills. .....bought a big old shack thats on a flat block amongst country that makes my mountain goat so nervous generally it wont even get out of the car just sits in the back and bleats nervously... Since then we have renovated most of it. The shack not the goat. New roof new wiring new stumps new bathroom new carpet new gardens new fridge. We now have three fridges. I want another fridge. And a chest freezer. And more fridges and freezers. Like we had at Arron street before it burned down. I still have the fridge poetry, although it has been banished to the garage cos its a bit rude.

While renovating and making babies our adventures tapered off a bit until Mikey was big enough to have fun and go places. Over the last 18 months we have visited parks, zoos, beaches, and many adventure playgrounds.

Standout memories from this time include:

A trip to Marysville with Mikeys Nanna, and having to change a nappy on a picnic table in the main street in about 5 degrees celsius. Was like being in a pit crew in action. Then a second trip when mikey was about 6 months old. Awesome scenery and sculptures at Brunos!

A few Zoo and wildlife sanctuary visits, in fact anything including animals with Mikey. He particularly likes lions and tigers.

A holdiay to central Victoria. We took in Daylesford, Milawa, and surrounding towns.

Mikeys naming and our Wedding day. We invited both families to join us for a naming and decided to pull a surprise wedding at the same time. This took place on the balcony at Tams mother Michelle and Alans House in Hornsby. We never wanted to be married anywhere else. Was the first time Tam had met the New Zealanders including my mother and brother Duncan, and best friends Eric and Corbett. Those guys got me more drunk than I have EVER been... Poor Tam realised in horror that all the scary stories I have told her are in fact true...and she still went ahead and married me, what a gal! I swear there is a tear in Erics eye as he stands right behind me as we do the ring thing.

Mikeys Birthdays. Nanny and Op, Hillar and Diane, Godmother Viv and Uncle John and Omi (Edel)We caught Puffing Billy up to Emerald and had lunch at Elevation Restaurant for his first, and for his second a lovely party with Viv John, Omi, Nanna Michelle, best mate Dean and his mum, and of course Mummy, Daddy and Teddy.

While Tam was pregnant with Blake we were honoured to be invited to Mikeys godfather Daniel and Tash his partners wedding It was perhaps the most romantic thing I have ever seen although from a man like Daniel, I would expect nothing less. They were married on Hahei beach on the Coromandel Peninsula. Aisle made of seashells, flowers, and all piped in by a bagpiper. Life just doesnt get any better than that.

We also used the time in NZ to have a bit of a tour, catching up with friends, family and seeing the sights. We visited Hot Water Beach, Pauanui, Rotorua (the only place in the world where you can pass wind and NOBODY will ever notice), Taupo, Waitomo, Cambridge and a fair chunk of Auckland. During this trip Eric travelled with us for much of the way. Mate I have missed the times we had and that holiday is one we will all remember forever. Was great to introduce Tam to my Dad, and Mikey to his other Grandad and again to his Dads Mum, as well as seeing cherished friends like Chucky (Carl) and Rachel and their respective families. We shall return. Be ready.

Recent family excursions have been to Chesterfield Farm in December 2006. We patted lots of animals, saw a shearing and milking and whip cracking display (all separate, not at the same time). Went for a tractor ride, and had a yummy barbecue. Daddys balding head got a bit sunburned.
