The Understandascope™ website is a multi-interest open forum hosted by Monash University.  Even though the Understandascope’s staff members are based primarily at Monash University, the site also generates input from non-academic participants.

The open door policy of the Understandascope reflects the broad range of interests and activities of its founder, Associate Professor Frank Fisher.  Frank has worked with a wide range of communities to show that looking after environment means looking after physical, mental and social well-being. Through writing, projects and campaigns, he has consistently shown that everyone is capable of transforming their social and mental contexts, to be Response Able for their relationship with environment (from the title of Frank’s new book, to purchase click here).

The Understandascope site is moderated informally and modestly by its staff members.  Frank, for example, participates on an equal footing with other contributors.  All participants are considered peers at the Understandascope.  As such, the Understandascope does not attempt to filter or edit contributions, nor attempt to dictate the direction discussions should take. The topics of discussion, and the extent to which they are pursued within the site, are entirely up to the participants involved.

The Understandascope functions as place for people with common interests and concerns to meet and talk – a place in which we can help each other to learn and grow.
