Pentecost

Our Journey into the heart of God.

The day of Pentecost is one of the great moments of revelation in the life of the church.  John in his Gospel reports how on the first Easter night, Jesus came to his disciples revealing himself to them as their risen Lord, and breathed the Holy Spirit upon them.  Luke in the Acts of the Apostles records the fulfilment of this process when the Holy Spirit came upon the disciples, in fulfilment of the promise of Jesus to empower them to witness to his resurrection to the ends of the earth.

As Jesus promised the night before he died.  He would give them the Holy Spirit who would remind them of what he dais and lead them into all truth.  Through the Spirit, they would see him although the world would not see him.

St. George’s Wonthaggi

When the day of Pentecost had come, they were all together in one place. {2} And suddenly from heaven there came a sound like the rush of a violent wind, and it filled the entire house where they were sitting. {3} Divided tongues, as of fire, appeared among them, and a tongue rested on each of them. {4} All of them were filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other languages, as the Spirit gave them ability.
