About Us We are a Parish, like many others that is discovering the love that God has for us and ultimately for the whole of creation. Our journey has lead us to revisit the fundamentals of our faith, to look afresh at the revelation that God has given us in our rich and diverse Christian heritage. This journey has lead us to reflect upon what it means for Jesus Christ to be our Savour and the one who reveals God to us. We are discovering that God’s love is greater than we have ever imagined. It is more immense than the ocean that laps on one of our parish boundaries. We realise what a privilege it is to live in this part of God’s world. The environment has a profound impact on us. Surrounded by the beauty of south Gippsland and the ocean with its many moods, we can easily identify with St. Paul when he says `Ever since the creation of the world his [God’s] eternal power and divine nature, invisible though they are, have been understood and seen through the things he has made. (Romans 1: 18) In realising more and more the depth of God’s love for the whole of His creation, we seek to recognise how God is at work in His creation and the life of every human being and look for the coming of God’s kingdom Worship Our regular Sunday Worship, is based on Eucharistic Liturgies of `A Prayer Book for Australia’. In the Eucharist we remember and celebrate the foundational belief of the Christian Faith—the `Death and resurrection of Jesus Christ’. Christ died for the sins of the whole world, that we all might have new life in him. The Eucharist has been the most important act of worship for the Christian Community since the earliest days of the church. In it, by celebrating the death and resurrection of Jesus, we come to a deeper experience of it and it’s benefits for us and the whole of creation. The Services are relatively simple and informal as we seek to `be present’ to God and to one another. We trust that God is with us in our `ordinariness’. We try to be open to the Holy Spirit leading us into a deeper experience of the words that we pray Sunday by Sunday. In the same way we listen to the Scriptures that we might know Jesus better as God’s living Word, the Word of life. The major festivals of the church are an important part of our tradition. In faithfully celebrating them we experience more deeply the divine revelation in Christ. We put great emphasis on the importance of our ministry of intercession for us, the Church, our community, those in need and ultimately, the whole of creation. A Children’s ministry is offered at each of our Sunday Services. At St. George’s Wonthaggi, we have a Family Service once a month run by the Sunday School. At the Church of the Ascension Inverloch, the Children's ministry is supplemented by a program run during the school Holidays. The Program is called `You are Special’ Our worship is a light to our lives as we seek to live the life that God calls us to inspired by the need to become what God has created us to be
