Andrew's Hobbies: Apple II
Andrew started using an Apple ][ europlus in 1982. A desire to find out how the machine worked led to him learning BASIC and 6502 Assembler. The ][ europlus was upgraded to a Platinum Apple //e in 1985 and he bought a 60MB CMS SCSI harddisk in 1988 for $1200. At some point, a 300 bps modem was purchased that was upgraded to 1200/75 eventually. The modem gave him access to other Apple II users in Sydney and introduced him to the Apple Users Group.
In the late 1980s, Bulletin Board Systems were as prolific as Internet Service Providers are today. Andrew enjoyed participating and creating his own BBS systems. One of Andrew's programming creations is a BBS host environment that was co-developed with Richard Bennett.
As you will see from the projects that he has worked on, Andrew enjoys bringing new technology to the Apple II. His current drive is to network his Apple IIgs with a variety of machines in a variety of ways.
