VKCL Download
| The latest version of VKCL can be downloaded from this page. It is recommended to visit this site about a week before any contest for which you intend to use VKCL to check for any updates and/or bug fixes relevant to that contest.
Version 2.28: The CW scoring for John Moyle Field Day has been revised as follows:
As noted below, the reason for VKCL starting off screen has probably been found and a fix implemented. Please report any further occurrence of the problem with Version 2.28 or later.
Version 2.29: A bug has been fixed which caused the CLAIMED_SCORE in the CABRILLO output log file to show as 0 instead of the correct value as shown on the logging window. You can either type in the correct value into the cabrillo log using a text editor such as Notepad, or update your VKCL to this Ver 2p29 and output your cabrillo log again. A configuration file check has also been added so that it should not corrupt VKCL Ver 3 files by accident. Beta of VKCL Ver 3.0 has been uploaded to this location .
Download VKCL Version 2.29 as an .exe or as a .zip file. Check for viruses (unzip if necessary), and run the file to start the installation.

Operational Hints: 1. Non-visible VKCL: Sometimes for unknown reasons, the VKCL logging window is transferred to another monitor screen, even if no other monitor screen is physically connected, and it becomes very difficult to restore correct position. There is an indication on the task bar that VKCL is running, but there is no way of accessing the logging screen. Even re-installing VKCL does not help. The following link describes the problem and how to solve it: In case the link disappears in the future, the basic operations are 1) Open VKCL, 2) Right click on VKCL tab in toolbar and choose "Move", 3) Press one of the Up/Down or Right/Left keys. 4)Move your mouse and VKCL should now be back on your screen. (Thanks to Jack, VK3WWW, for finding the solution.) (Due to a lucky incident during the 2011 Summer VHF-UHF contest, when a notebook was rebooted without closing VKCL first, the probable cause of the above problem was established and a fix now implemented. The problem should not occur in Ver 2.28 and onwards. Thanks Max, VK3WT.)
2. Run Time Error: If, when running OmniRig, you shut down VKCL without first stopping OmniRig, you have a good chance of a pop-up dialog coming up to inform you of a VKCL.exe run time error R6025 - pure virtual function call. It is probably from the library that supports inter process communication between VKCL and OmniRig, and there has been no report of any damage caused by this error. There should be none as by this time all databases are safely closed and tucked away. To avoid seeing this dialog, remember to stop OmniRig before closing VKCL. Previous versions of VKCL: The current version of VKCL implements only the current contest rules for all the contests it supports, but these rules change from time to time. Therefore if you want to review a previous contest for which the rules have since changed, it is not really possible to do so with the current version of VKCL, as the database information will be interpreted according to the current rules. For example, if the Remembrance Day contest reverts to having no repeat contacts, then looking at the 2006 database with VKCL that does not allow repeat contacts will show a lot of duplicate contacts. If for some reason you do want to review a previous contest for which the rules have changed, then you will need to reload a copy of VKCL with which the contest was logged. The output log file for submission always contains the version of VKCL used to create it.
